what does the fox say?
my guess is that it is trying to say how wonderful gel polish is. whatever that mischievous little animal is saying, it has inspired this week's nail art tutorial.
in this week's toffey talk, i am going to show you how to apply a mischievous little fox and polka-dots (because who doesn't love polka-dots) to your nails. let's jump right into the fox hole.
what you will need:
- stairway to heaven gel polish (or any white gel polish)
- orange crush gel polish (or any orange gel polish)
- blackest betty gel polish (or any black gel polish)
- top coat
- base coat
- LED lamp
- nail brush or orange stick
- aluminium foil (to put small drops of gel polish on to make the design work easier)
- alcohol wipe (in case you make a mistake)
what you need to do
step 1 you’ll need something to draw your naughty little fox on to. i've used stairway to heaven as it also provides the white colour of the fox's fur. don’t know how to apply gel polish? our most watched video on how to apply your gel polish manicure will have you sorted.
step 2 in this step, you are applying the shape for the fox's head. using orange crush, apply a semi circle to the top end of your nail. put a small drop of orange crush on to the aluminium foil. then using a nail brush or orange stick apply two small triangular ears to the fox's head (remember, if your fingers are pointing away from you, the fox's ears should be pointing towards you).
step 3 cure the nail you have applied the fox art to in the led lamp for 60 seconds. clean your nail brush with an alcohol wipe.
step 4 in this step you will be drawing the fox's cheeks. put a small drop of stairway to heaven on to the aluminium foil. then using a nail brush, apply the stairway to heaven to the two top end corners of your nail. by doing this, you should be left with an orange triangular looking fox face. however, don't make the face too triangular, it should have some curves on the cheeks.
step 5 cure the nail you have applied the fox art to in the led lamp for 60 seconds. clean your nail brush with an alcohol wipe.
step 6 in this step you will be drawing the fox's eyes, nose and ears. put a small drop of blackest betty on to the aluminium foil. then using the nail brush or orange stick, draw two small dots for eyes and one small dot for a nose. then apply two small black triangles inside of the already applied orange ears.
step 7 cure the nail you have applied the fox art to in the led lamp for 60 seconds. clean your nail brush with an alcohol wipe.
step 8 in this step you will be applying the polka-dots to the remaining four nails. take your orange stick and dip it in the blackest betty on the aluminium foil. then apply approximately 15-20 small black dots to each nail (other than the fox nail of course).
step 9 cure your nails in the led lamp for 60 seconds.
step 10 apply a thin layer of top coat to your nails.
step 11 cure your nails in the led lamp for 90 seconds.
done, done and done. so, what does your fox say?
