in this week’s toffey talk, we are celebrating the festive season with another christmas special. we are going to show you how to apply a snowman to one of your nails.
applying a snowman is very quick, only requiring an extra 5-10 minutes on top of your normal gel polish manicure.
we have outlined the steps below in writing, however if prefer to learn in a visual way, we have created a short video showing you how to apply the marble nail technique:
what you will need
- LED or UV lamp
- 1 x favourite gel polish as your base colour (in this video we use purple rain)
- 1 x black gel polish colour for the buttons, eyes and arms (in this video we use blackest betty)
- 1 x orange gel polish colour for the nose (in this video we use orange crush)
- 1 x white gel polish colour for the snow (in this video we use stairway to heaven)
- top coat
- nail brush
- alcohol wipe or acetone
- ensure you already have applied your gel nails to all of your nails except the nail you will be applying your snowman design to. in this video we use purple rain. if you need help with this, check out a previous video here.
- apply a small amount of stairway to heaven to your nail brush and paint approximately 2-3mm on the base of your nail. this is the snow that the snowman will sit on. cure your nail in the LED lamp for 60 seconds.
- apply more stairway to heaven to your nail brush and paint two circles on top of the snow. the first larger circle is the body of the snowman, and the second smaller circle is the head of the snowman. cure your nail in the LED lamp for 60 seconds.
- clean your nail brush on an alcohol wipe.
- apply a small amount of blackest betty to your nail brush and paint on two small dots on the large circle for buttons, and another two small dots on the smaller circle for eyes. also draw on two arms.
- clean your nail brush on an alcohol wipe.
- apply a small amount of orange crush to your nail brush and paint on the snowman's nose. cure in the LED lamp for 60 seconds.
- clean your nail brush on an alcohol wipe.
- apply stairway to heaven to your nail brush and paint on approximately 6-8 snowflakes around the snowman. cure in the LED lamp for 60 seconds.
- apply a thin layer of top coat and cure it in the LED lamp for 90 seconds.
- wipe over your nail with an alcohol wipe.
